Best AI Mock Interview Tools in 2026, Compared Honestly

Most "best AI mock interview tools" lists are written by one of the tools. So is this one, and I would rather say it in the first line than hope you do not notice: I built RehearseAI, after twenty years as a hiring manager and a run of lost final rounds as a candidate. Weigh what follows accordingly.

What I can offer instead of neutrality is specifics. Every price below was read from the vendor's own pricing page on October 24, 2026, and is linked at the bottom. Every format claim is what the product actually does, not what its homepage says it feels like. And the list includes three tools people still recommend that no longer exist, because that is the question most of these articles quietly fail to answer.

What an AI mock interview tool is for

Not knowledge. You already know your own stories. The tools earn their place by doing three things a mirror cannot: ask a question you did not pick, follow up when your answer has no result at the end, and show you afterward how long you took and what you actually said.

The products below split into four kinds: a live AI interviewer you talk to (Huru, RehearseAI), a speech coach that scores how you sound (Yoodli), a question library you record yourself answering (Big Interview), and humans (interviewing.io, Aced). Final Round AI is a fifth thing, covered on its own.

1. Huru: the free live interviewer

Price. Free. Huru's site says it is free for everyone, including live interviews and the full feedback report, with paid plans only for universities and employers.

What it is. A spoken conversation with an AI interviewer that asks follow-ups and adapts to your answers. You choose an interviewer, a pressure level and a length from 5 to 20 minutes. Questions come from a library of more than 240 roles, from a job description you paste, or from questions you write yourself. You answer out loud, with video on or audio only.

Where it falls short. Feedback is good but generic across roles, and the interviewers are presented as named characters rather than a face you watch. If "free" is the deciding factor, start here.

2. Yoodli: the speech coach

Price. Starter is free with 5 lifetime sessions. Pro is $8 a month billed annually for up to 10 roleplays a week; Advanced is $20 a month billed annually for unlimited roleplays. Monthly billing exists at a higher rate the pricing page does not print.

What it is. Yoodli began as a public-speaking analyzer and still shows it: filler-word counts, pacing, eye contact and word choice are measured better here than anywhere else on this list. Interview roleplays sit on top of that engine.

Where it falls short. The questions are the weak half. If your problem is "I sound nervous," Yoodli is the right tool. If your problem is "I do not know what this hiring manager will ask," it is not.

3. Big Interview: the university standard

Price. $39 a month, $99 for three months, or $299 once for lifetime access. There is no free tier; there is a 30-day refund if you do not see results.

What it is. The product most US career centers license, which means many students get it free through school. It pairs a large library of role- and industry-specific question sets with a recorder: you answer on camera and its AI scores delivery, clarity and structure.

Where it falls short. It is practice by playlist. The question comes, you answer, the next question comes. There is no interviewer reacting to what you said, so the follow-up, which is where real interviews are won and lost, never arrives. Ask your career center whether you already have it before paying.

4. Final Round AI: the copilot, with practice on the side

Price. A free plan covers goal setup and job-description parsing. Pro starts at $25 a month and includes the practice interviews.

What it is. The headline feature is a live Interview Copilot: it listens to your real interview and feeds you answers in real time. Mock interviews are a secondary feature behind the paywall.

Where it falls short. Two problems. The practice product is not the point of the company, and it shows. And the main product is a decision you should make with your eyes open: most employers consider real-time AI assistance during an interview to be cheating, and some video-interview platforms now check for it. I would not stake an offer on it.

5. interviewing.io: a senior engineer on the other end

Price. Not published on the site; sessions are booked individually and coaching comes in packages of 3, 5 or 10. The AI interviewer for coding problems is free.

What it is. Anonymous technical mock interviews with senior, staff and principal engineers from large tech companies, run over audio and a shared editor, with written feedback afterward. For a software engineer facing a coding or system-design loop, nothing on this list is as close to the real thing.

Where it falls short. It is for engineers only, it is the most expensive option here, and it does not do behavioral rounds well. Everyone else should keep scrolling.

6. Aced, formerly Exponent: peer practice for tech roles

Price. A free account; course and coaching prices are not shown on the homepage.

What it is. Aced absorbed Pramp, the free peer-to-peer mock interview service, in 2024. You are matched with another candidate and take turns interviewing each other, alongside courses and expert coaching for product, engineering and data roles.

Where it falls short. Your interviewer is another nervous candidate. Useful for reps, less useful for judgment, and the scheduling is the usual problem with peers.

7. RehearseAI: the one I built

Price. Every account gets 10 free practice minutes a month with no credit card, sat as one 10-minute interview or shorter sessions. Premium is $49.95 a month or $89.95 per quarter and adds 200 minutes a month, unlimited human invites and 30-day rewatch of your recordings.

What it is. Paste the job description and your resume. An AI interviewer avatar, a video interviewer you see and hear rather than a voice-only bot, asks questions written for that role and stage (recruiter screen, hiring manager, panel, final), follows up when an answer has no result at the end, and records you so you can hear your own pacing and filler words. You can also invite a real person to interview you over video; they join in the browser with no account.

Where it falls short. It is for the behavioral and role-fit rounds, not for coding problems, so an engineer still needs interviewing.io or Aced for the technical loop. The free allowance is 10 minutes a month, which is one honest run-through and not a training program. And it is built by a hiring manager, not a speech scientist, so Yoodli measures delivery more precisely.

Which AI mock interview tool to pick, by situation

Lists in this category go stale fast, and the top search results still send people to dead pages.

  • Google Interview Warmup was retired in 2026. The old links now land on a general article with no practice tool behind them.
  • LinkedIn Interview Prep, the practice feature in LinkedIn's Jobs tab, was retired in 2025. The link goes to a login page with nothing behind it.
  • Pramp moved its sessions to Aced in July 2024. The Pramp site is a banner saying so.

If a career page or a blog post sends you to one of those, that page has not been updated in a while, and its other advice may not have been either.

How to test any of them in twenty minutes

Pick one tool. Paste a real job posting. Answer three questions out loud: tell me about yourself, a time something went wrong, and a question you did not expect. Then ask one question of the tool: did it push back when my answer had no result at the end?

If the answer is no, you have a question bank, not an interviewer. Both are useful. Only one of them prepares you for the follow-up.

Quick answers

What is the best free AI mock interview tool? Huru, for an unlimited live AI interviewer at no cost. RehearseAI's free 10 minutes a month add a video avatar and questions from your own posting. Yoodli's free tier is 5 sessions total.

Are AI mock interviews worth it compared with a human? For reps, yes: the follow-up questions and the timing feedback are the part a friend is too polite to give. For judgment about your career story, a human coach or mentor still wins. Use the tool for practice and a person for strategy.

Is using an AI copilot during a real interview allowed? Usually not. Most employers treat real-time AI answers as cheating, and some interview platforms detect it. Practice before the interview is a different thing from help during it.

Which tool do universities use? Big Interview is the most widely licensed by US career centers. Check whether your school already provides it before paying for anything.

Whichever you choose, the method is the same: say it out loud, on a timer, more than once. If nerves are the problem, start with interview anxiety: what actually helps. More on why I built this.
